## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 10-2-96, AT 1110 CDT, N63DL LANDED AT PEORIA AIRPORT (PIA) WITH THE LEFT ENGINE SHUT DOWN. THE CREW DETECTED THE LEFT ENGINE GEAR BOX CHIP LIGHT "ON" CLIMBING THROUGH 26,000 FEET. THE CREW ELECTED TO SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AND RETURN TO PIA. THE CREW DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE TWO CREW AND ONE PASSENGER SUSTAINED NO INJURIES. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED. THE OWNER/PILOT STATED THE FLIGHT WAS FOR FAMILIARIZATION WITH NEW ENGINES. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL FOUND METAL "FUZZ" OVER THE LEFT ENGINE GEAR BOX CHIP DETECTOR WHICH ACTIVATED THE INDICATOR LIGHT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
