## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON OCT. 2, 1996, THE STUDENT PILOT DEPARTED RYAN FIELD, TUS, FOR A LOCAL TRAINING FLIGHT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED. THE STUDENT WAS MAKING TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS AT PINAL AIRPARK (MEJ) AND REPORTED THE FOLLOWING: AFTER A NORMAL FLAPS 30 LANDING INSTEAD OF PUTTING MY FLAPS UP I PUT MY GEAR UP. WHEN I DID THIS THE GEAR WARNING WENT ON AND IN A SUDDEN REACTION I PUT THE GEAR (LEVER) DOWN AGAIN AND AFTER THIS I QUICKLY PUT THE FLAPS UP. THEN THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE PROPELLER HIT THE RUNWAY WHICH CAUSED THE NOSE OF THE PLANE TO COME UP AGAIN. DIRECTLY AFTER THIS THE MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED AND I SLID TO THE RIGHT OF THE RUNWAY AND CAME TO A STOP.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
