## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON OCTOBER 19, 1996, AT 1045 HOURS, A PIPER, MODEL PA-31-325, REGISTRATION NUMBER N88KJ, REGISTERED TO LUMAIR, INC. MADE A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING AT HARRISBURG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MDT), MIDDLETOWN, PA DUE TO AN AUDIBLE ALARM, WHILE ON A PLEASURE FLIGHT. INSTRUMENT METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME, AND A FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED NO DAMAGE AND THE PILOT AND PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT CHARLESTON, WV (CRW) ON OCTOBER 19, 1996 AT 0930 HOURS. AFTER LANDING AT MIDDLETOWN, THE PILOT PHONED THE MECHANIC THAT MAINTAINED THE AIRCRAFT, AND IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT THE STALL WARNING SWITCH HAD WATER IN IT FROM THE LIGHT RAIN ENCOUNTERED DURING THE FLIGHT. THE PILOT CYCLED THE SWITCH AND BLEW THE WATER OUT. THE SWITCH BEGAN WORKING NORMALLY AGAIN, AND THE FLIGHT TO PHL WAS RESUMED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT RETURNED TO SERVICE BY A CERTIFICATED MECHANIC. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ THIS CASE IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
