## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: AIRCRAFT PA-28-151 (N6910F) OPERATED BY PILOT JUAN STEWART (COMM. 421117075) MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING AT VLD WITHOUT POSITION LIGHTS WITHOUT COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE TOWER AFTER A HOLE IN THE AREA OF THE LEFT POSITION LIGHT OCCURRED IN THE WING TIP. THE PILOT HEARD A POP NOISE FOLLOWED BY A RUSHING OF AIR AND LANDED AT THE FIRST AIRPORT ALONG HIS FLIGHT PATH. WITHOUT THE PILOTS KNOWLEDGE THE LEFT WING TIP DEVELOPED A HOLE APPROXIMATELY 5-6" HIGH AND 20-28"LONG WITH THE POSITION LIGHT FALLING INTO THE WING STRUCTURE. PHOTOS OF THE DAMAGE INDICATES THE WING POSSIBLY DID NOT STRIKE AN OBJECT OR ANOTHER AIRCRAFT IN FLIGHT. THE DAMAGE WAS OVER THE TOP SIDE OF THE TIP CORD LINE AND IF THE WING HAD STRUCK AN OBJECT WRINKLING OR DAMAGE BELOW THE CORD LINE SHOULD HAVE OCCURRED. THE WING TIP WAS REMOVED AND DISCARDED BEFORE THE FAA WAS ALERTED; THEREFORE, FAILURE OF THE TIP STRUCTURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE PILOT OPERATED PROPERLY IN THE SITUATION. NO FURTHER ACTION REQUIRED.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
