## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON OCTOBER 28, 1996, AT 1130 HOURS, A PIPER, PA-28R-200, N1112X, REGISTERED TO CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA AIR, INC., LANDED AT HARRISBURG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MDT) WITH AN UNSAFE GEAR INDICATION. (RIGHT MAIN GEAR WAS NOT INDICATING DOWN AND LOCKED.) VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME, ALTHOUGH THE FLIGHT WAS OPERATING ON AN IFR CLEARANCE. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT WILLIAMSPORT AIRPORT, MONTOURSVILLE, PA AND THE CERTIFICATED COMMERCIAL PILOT WAS THE ONLY OCCUPANT. DURING APPROACH TO LANDING, THE LANDING GEAR FAILED TO INDICATE 3 GEAR. EMERGENCY EXTENSION PROCEDURES WERE USED AND A FLY-BY OF THE TOWER REVEALED GEAR APPEARED TO BE EXTENDED. THE GEAR WAS IN THE DOWN POSITION, AND REMAINED EXTENDED THROUGHOUT THE LANDING. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED A BROKEN WIRE IN THE INDICATING SYSTEM. REPAIRS WERE MADE AT MDT. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
