## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: AFTER DEPARTURE FROM CMH MESABA 3082 EXPERIENCED A "STUCK" ELEVATOR AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. THE FLIGHT CONTINUED TO DTW AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE INSPECTED THE ELEVATOR SYSTEM AND FOUND "ICE APPROX. 1/2" EXTENDING AFT OF LEADING EDGES COVERING ENTIRE TOP SURFACE AND IMPENDING TRAVEL OF SPRING TABS." THE AIRCRAFT HAD BEEN PARTIALLY DE-ICED AT CMH, PRIOR TO DEPARTURE. THE HOLD-OVER TIME WAS EXCEEDED BY 2 MINUTES. THE PILOTS STATE THAT PRE-TAKE OFF CHECKS WERE O.K. CAPTAIN STATED THAT THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER WAS "FREE OF CONTAMINATION SO IT WAS NOT SPRAYED."

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
