## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT RAN OFF RIGHT SIDE OF RUNWAY. (.4)THE PILOT SAID THAT ON LANDING THE AIRPLANE STARTED TO TURN LEFT AND HE CORRECTED TO THE RIGHT; HOWEVER, THE AIRPLANE EXITED THE RUNWAY TO THE RIGHT. AFTER ROLLING OFF THE RUNWAY THE WING RECEIVED DAMAGE FROM CONTACT WITH THE GROUND. SUBSEQUENT TO THE ACCIDENT AN EXAMINATION OF THE AIRPLANE FAILED TO REVEAL ANY MECHANICAL ANOMALIES OF THE NOSE WHEEL STEERING OR BRAKING SYSTEM. (-23) ON THE LANDING ROLL THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY IN A TIGHT RIGHT GROUND LOOP FASHION. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED WHEN THE LEFT WING STRUCK THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI97LA032](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI97LA032), Nov 22, 1996: Piper PA-28-140 (N6804W), Hart, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain directional control on rollout.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
