## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF RUNWAY, STRUCK A SNOWBANK, FLIPPED OVER WHILEA STUDENT PILOT PRACTICING SOFT FIELD TAKEOFF. (-23) THE STUDENT PILOT WAS ON A SOLO PRACTICE FLIGHT AND ATTEMPTED A PRACTICE SOFT FIELD TAKEOFF ON THE HARD SURFACE RUNWAY 32. IT APPEARS THAT INADEQUATE RIGHT RUDDER WAS APPLIED, AND THE AIRCRAFT LEFT THE RUNWAY, HIT THE SNOWBANK ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY, AND FLIPPED OVER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC97LA028](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC97LA028), Dec 11, 1996: Cessna 152 (N68180), Mansfield, MA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the student pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the takeoff roll, which resulted in the airplane veering into a snowbank. The proximity of the snowbank was a related factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
