## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON DECEMBER 20, 1996, AT 8:13 PM A CESSNA 172M, OWNED BY ROBERT WHITE, INC., MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING AT ROBERT MUELLER AIRPORT, AUSTIN, TEXAS. THE PLEASURE FLIGHT WAS CONDUCTED UNDER VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE PILOT REPORTED A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN MINUTES INTO THE FLIGHT, RETURNED TO THE AIRPORT, AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL DETERMINED THAT THE LEFT MAGNETO HAD FAILED, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO RUN ROUGH. THE MAGNETO WAS REPLACED AND THE AIRCRAFT RAN NORMALLY. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT ROBERT MUELLER AIRPORT, AUSTIN, TEXAS ON DECEMBER 20, 1996 AT APPROXIMATELY 7:55 PM. THE PILOT, MR. ROBERT TAYLOR WHITE, HOLDS COMMERCIAL CERTIFICATE NO. 458975020. THIS OFFICE CONSIDERS THIS MATTER CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
