## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

LANDED LONG USED BRAKES SPOILERS AND REVERSERS, STILL RAN OFF END OVER EMBANKMENT CROSSED ROAD INTO A DTICH. (-23) THE PIC STATED HE HAD TO USE SPOILERS TO GET ON THE GLIDE SLOP AND HE NEVER FELT HE WAS ON A STABILIZED APPROACH. HE ALSO WAS TRYING TO MAKE A SMOOTHER LANDING THEN HE HAD DONE THE DAY BEFORE. THE TOUCHDOWN POINT OF THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT ALLOW SUFFICIENT ROOM TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE LANDING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA97LA088](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA97LA088), Feb 27, 1997: Learjet LR35 (N440HM), Greenville, SC, destroyed. Probable cause: The pilot-in-command's failure to achieve the proper touchdown point on a known wet runway, resulting in a subsequent overrun and on ground collision with a ditch.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
