## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 3/6/97 A SAAB 340 B A/C N369PX WAS ON A TAKEOFF ROLL WHEN THE FLIGHT CREW HEARD A POP THAT SOUNDED LIKE A TIRE. AT THAT POINT THE A/C STARTED PULLING TO THE LEFT, THE PILOT NOTICED OIL PRESSURE WAS DROPPING ON #1 ENG AND ITT WAS OVER 900 DEGREES. HIS FLT ATTENDANT CALLED FROM THE BACK AND STATED THERE WAS SMOKE AND VISIBLE FLAMES FROM #1 ENG. HE DECIDED TO PULL THE BOTTLE ON #1 ENGINE AND THEN THE SECOND BOTTLE. HE THEN ORDERED AN EVACUATION OF THE AIRCRAFT. AFTER HE WAS SURE THERE WAS NO DANGER OF A FIRE SPREADING FROM #1 ENGINE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
