## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 03-28-97, AIRCRAFT DEPARTED NEWPORT NEWS, VA (PHF) ENROUTE TO NORFOLK INT'L AIRPORT (ORF). THE FLIGHT WAS A FERRY REPOSITION FLIGHT. UPON ROTATION AT PHF, THE CREW REPORTED STRIKING A DEER ON THE NOSE GEAR. THE GEAR WAS LEFT IN THE EXTENDED POSITION, AND THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO ORF AND LANDED 0010 WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE EXAMINED THE AIRCRAFT AND DETERMINED THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE LANDING GEAR. HOWEVER, THE FUSELAGE WAS DENTED AT STATION 456 TO 467. AN EO #853-97-840 WAS ISSUED FOR REPAIR, NOT TO EXCEED 300 HRS OF OPERATION, BASED ON EDDY CURRENT INSPECTION RESULTS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
