## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT TAXIED AIRCRAFT TO RUNWAY 09R. THERE WAS NOTHING ABNORMAL ON TAXI OR DURING RUNUP. AFTER TAKEOFF WITH RIGHT CROSSWIND (170/12KT TO 15KT) GEAR SELECTED UP. RED GEAR WARNING LIGHT STAYED ILLUMINATED, PILOT RECYCLED GEAR SHOWING MAINS LOCKED DOWN, BUT NOSE GEAR NOT DOWN, WITH GEAR WARNING STILL ON. PILOT DECLARED EMERGENCY AND CYCLED GEAR. EMERGENCY RETRACT FAILED TO EXTEND GEAR. NOSE WHEEL COLLAPSED ON LANDING CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ MALFUNCTION AND DEFECT REPORT. APPEARS TO BE A GROUND HANDLING, MECHANICAL, AND DESIGN PROBLEM WITH NOSE GEAR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
