## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: PILOT ATKINS DEPARTED PIECE CO-THUN AIRPORT, WASHINGTON AT 0735 PST ENROUTE TO POCATELLO, IDAHO. 15.6 NM WEST OF POCATELLO AIRPORT THE PILOT REPORTED TO THE POCATELLO TOWER THAT HE HAD A FUEL DELIVERY PROBLEM AND WAS GOING TO LAND IN A FIELD OR ROAD. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT 1204 MST IN A FIELD WITHOUT INCIDENT. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, HIS FUEL GAGE WAS INDICATING THAT HE HAD 7 GALLONS REMAINING. AFTER LANDING THE PILOT DETERMINED THAT BOTH FUEL TANKS WERE EMPTY. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, THE AIRPLANE HAS A MAZDA 150 HP ROTARY ENGINE WHICH BURNS 8.5 GAL/HR. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN 4 HRS AND 28 MINUTES TO FUEL EXHAUSTION (38GAL/8.5GAL/HR) THE ACTUAL TIME TO FULL EXHAUSTION WAS 3 HRS AND 29 MINUTES (1204 MST - 835 MST). THE PROBABLE CAUSE, FOR THE PILOT TO CONTINUE HIS FLIGHT TO FUEL EXHAUSTION, WAS THE ERRONEOUS INDICATION OF THE FUEL GAUGE. THE PILOT CONTINUED HIS FLIGHT TO LAKELAND, FLORIDA, BUT LIMITED HIS TIME EN ROUTE TO TWO HOUR SEGMENTS. THIS IS THE FINAL REPORT.

Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
