## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON APRIL 19, 1997 AT 1400 HRS PDT. PILOT OF N6505K LANDED ON RUNWAY 16 AT BULKHEAD CITY AIRPORT. DURING ROLLOUT THE MAIN GEAR SLOWLY RETRACTED AND THE AIRCRAFT SLID TO A STOP ON THE KEEL OF THE HULL. DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT WAS KEEL GROUND DOWN AT STEP. INSPECTION OF LANDING GEAR SYSTEM REVEALED THAT ONE OF THE TWO SPRINGS WHICH KEEPS THE OVERCENTER DOWN LOCK SYSTEM IN THE CORRECT POSITION HAD BROKEN. OWNER SUBMITTED FAA FORM 8010-4 MALFUNCTION OR DEFECT REPORT TO RAL FSDO.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
