## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON APRIL 23, 1997, AT 1530 EST, A FOKKER 28, N864US, FLIGHT 821, OPERATED BY US AIRWAYS, DURING THE TAKEOFF PHASE FROM BUFFALO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN BUFFALO, NEW YORK, EXPERIENCED INOPERATIVE LANDING GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO THE AIRPORT AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MECHANIC FOUND THE LEFT INBOARD GROUND/FLIGHT SENSING UNIT BROKEN. THE AIRCRAFT WAS FERRIED TO PITTSBURGH, PA FOR REPAIRS. THE LEFT INBOARD GROUND/FLIGHT SENSING UNIT WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED. THE OPERATIONAL CHECK WAS SATISFACTORY AND THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
