## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE:ON APRIL 24, 1997 AT APPROXIMATELY 2:30 PILOT WAS RETURNING TO HWO TO DROP BANNER. WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO RELEASE BANNER, THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. PILOT LANDED ON RUNWAY 9L. AS THE AIRCRAFT'S MAIN LANDING GEAR TOUCHED THE GROUND A CROSS WIND BLEW THE BANNER ON TO THE GRASS. THE DRAG OF THE BANNER OVER STRESSED THE ROPE CONNECTED TO THE TAIL HOOK CAUSING THE ROPE TO BREAK, WHICH GAVE A SLING-SHOT REACTION TO THE AIRCRAFT TO TIP FORWARD CAUSING THE PROPELLER BLADES TO STRIKE THE RUNWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
