## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON APRIL 28, 1997, (IDENTITY EXPUNGED) WAS PILOT IN COMMAND OF BEECH BARON, N3054W, ON AN IFR CARGO FLIGHT FROM ROANOKE, VIRGINIA TO ABINGDON, VIRGINIA. (IDENTITY EXPUNGED) CONDUCTED TWO LOCALIZER APPROACHES TO RUNWAY 24 AND WAS NOT IN A POSITION TO LAND FROM EITHER APPROACH. INSTEAD OF CONDUCTING A MISSED APPROACH FROM THE SECOND LOCALIZER APPROACH, (IDENTITY EXPUNGED) CONDUCTED A CIRCLING MANEUVER THAT INVOLVED A 360 DEGREE TURN BACK TO RUNWAY 24. N3054W TOUCHED DOWN ON RUNWAY 24, WHICH WAS WET, AT APPROXIMATELY THE HALF-WAY POINT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS UNABLE TO STOP ON THE REMAINING RUNWAY AND RAN OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND DOWN A SLIGHT EMBANKMENT, CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. NO INJURIES RESULTED. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ THIS INVESTIGATION CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
