## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: AT ABOUT 0845 LOCAL, CRUISING AT 8000 FEET, MR. RONALD GIROUX, PIC NOTICED THE SMELL OF SOMETHING BURNING. HE TOOK OFF HIS SUNGLASSES AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. MR. RONALD GIROUX ALERTED THE NY ATC CENTER THAT HE WAS TURNING OFF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS AND RETURNING TO CARLISLE, N94. THE LANDING WAS UNEVENTFUL, AND WAS MET BY FIRE TRUCKS. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED AND NO EVIDENCE OF FIRE WAS FOUND. THE AIRCRAFT WILL BE INSPECTED TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE SMOKE. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
