## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON MAY 28, 1997 AT APPROXIMATELY 12:15 AM (05:15 UTC) ATLANTIC SOUTHEAST AIRLINES FLIGHT NUMBER ASE 7548 LANDED ON RUNWAY 14 AT THE GULFPORT-BILOXI REGIONAL AIRPORT (GPT), GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI. THE AIRCRAFT, AN EMB-120, REGISTRATION NUMBER N223AS, WAS OPERATED UNDER FAR 121 AS A SCHEDULED PASSENGER CARRYING FLIGHT. DURING THE APPROACH TO RUNWAY 14 THERE WERE MEN AND EQUIPMENT WORKING ON THAT RUNWAY. WORKMEN OBSERVED AN AIRCRAFT ON APPROACH FOR THE RUNWAY AND GATHERED THEIR EQUIPMENT AND EXITED THE RUNWAY TO THE ADJOINING GRASS AREA PRIOR TO THE AIRCRAFT LANDING. DURING THE APPROACH AND LANDING THE RUNWAY LIGHTS FOR RUNWAY 14/32 WERE NOT LIGHTED. THERE WERE NOTAMS FOR THE TIME PERIODS 0400 UTC TO 1030 UTC, EFFECTIVE UNTIL 5/31/97 CONCERNING RUNWAY 14/32 BEING CLOSED, ILS 14/32 OUT OF SERVICE, BAYOU NDB 134 UNUSABLE, GPT VOR 128/320 UNUSEABLE AND THE 14/32 APPROACH LIGHTING SYSTEM OUT OF SERVICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
