## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: DURING CRUISE AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES OUT OF EWR THE FLIGHT WAS GIVEN A HOLD FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THIS WAS NO PROBLEM. THE CREW WAS INITIALLY TOLD THAT THIS WOULD BE THEIR ONLY HOLD. WHEN THIS WAS OVER, THE FLIGHT WAS ADVANCED TO ANOTHER HOLD POINT AND EVENTUALLY GIVEN CLEARANCE TO HOLD FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR. THE PLANE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH FUEL FOR THIS SO THE CREW COORDINATED WITH DISPATCH AND ATC AND REQUESTED AND RECEIVED CLEARANCE TO JFK WHICH THE CREW WAS ADVISED HAD NO HOLD. DURING THE VECTOR TO JFK, THE FLIGHT BEGAN TALKING TO AND RECEIVING VECTORS FROM EWR APPROACH CONTROL. DURING THE PROCESS THE FLIGHT WAS GETTING FARTHER FROM ANY AIRPORT AND THE FUEL WAS GETTING NEAR THE CAPTAIN'S PERSONAL MINIMUM. THE CAPTAIN DECLARED MINIMUM FUEL AND PROMPTLY RECEIVED VECTORS TOWARD THE AIRPORT. AT NO TIME WAS AN EMERGENCY DECLARED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
