## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: WHILE TAKING OFF ON RUNWAY 14 (2,090 FT.) AT BLAINE, WASHINGTON THE PILOT SAID THAT THE CESSNA 172M AIRSPEED INDICATOR WAS NOT REACHING THE RECOMMENDED SPEED FOR ROTATION. AT APPROXIMATELY 1,100 FEET INTO THE TAKE OFF ROLL, THE AIRSPEED INDICATOR SHOWED 40 KNOTS AND THE PILOT ELECTED TO ABORT THE TAKE OFF. THE AIRCRAFT WENT OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND CAME TO A STOP IN BLACK BERRY BUSHES APPROXIMATELY 120 FEET OFF THE RUNWAY END. THE RELATED POLICE REPORT NOTED 200 FEET OF TIRE SKID MARKS ON THE RUNWAY, LEADING TO THE GROUND TRACK LEFT BY THE AIRCRAFT ON THE OVERRUN AREA. DURING THE OVERRUN, THE NOSE GEAR WENT INTO A HOLE AND ONE PROP TIP WAS BENT AS A RESULT. INSPECTION BY A MECHANIC AT BLAINE SHOWED NO OTHER DAMAGE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS FERRIED TO AVIATION NORTHWEST IN BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON AND THE AIRSPEED INDICATOR WAS FOUND TO BE INOPERATIVE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
