## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: NWA FLIGHT 935 A DC-10-40 FROM MSP TO LAX RETURNED MSP DUE TO #1 ENGINE FIRE WARNING AT 10:20 LOCAL TIME. THE CAPTAIN DECLARED AN EMERGENCY, DISCHARGED ONE FIRE BOTTLE, DUMPED FUEL AND RETURNED TO MSP WITHOUT INCIDENT. IT APPEARS THAT THE 15TH STAGE S-DUCT CLAMP WAS NOT INSTALLED. BOTH NUT AND LOCK NUT WERE ON THE T-BOLT, BUT THE T-BOLT WAS NOT THRU THE EYELIT RECEPTACLE. THE THREADS WERE NORMAL ON THE T-BOLT AND THE DUCT WAS UNDAMAGED. THE CLAMP WAS ON THE S-DUCT ABOVE THE CONNECTION POINT OF THE TWO DUCTS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
