## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON JUNE 21, 1997, AT 1135 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME, A CESSNA, MODEL 401, AIRCRAFT REGISTERED TO EAST TENN. AIR, INC., EXPERIENCED A BLOWN RIGHT MAIN TIRE DURING LANDING AND DEPARTED THE RUNWAY. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME AND INSTRUMENT FLIGHT RULES FLIGHT PLAN WAS IN EFFECT. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. THE COMMERCIAL PILOT AND THREE PASSENGERS SUSTAINED NO INJURIES. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT HAMMOND MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (OR9) ON JUNE 21, 1997, AND WAS RETURNING DUE TO AN UNSECURED NOSE BAGGAGE DOOR LATCH. INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE FORWARD LATCH ON THE LEFT NOSE BAGGAGE DOOR WOULD APPEAR LATCHED WHEN, IN FACT, THE LATCH WAS NOT ENGAGED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
