## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: BUSINESS EXPRESS, FLIGHT 390, DECLARED AN EMERGENCY DUE TO AN INTERMITTENT HOT TAIL PIPE. ALERT 2 WAS ACTIVATED. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED BOSTON RUNWAY 27 AT 2140 EDT, 7/3/97. THE CAPTAIN ORDERED THE AIRCRAFT EVACUATED UTILIZING THE CABIN ENTRANCE DOOR AND THE LEFT OVER WING HATCH. THE PASSENGERS WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE TERMINAL VIA BUS. MAINTENANCE DETERMINED THE CAUSE TO BE A DAMAGED HEAT SHIELD BLANKET CAUSING A HOT SPOT THAT TRIGGERED A FALSE WARNING. THE BLANKET WAS REPLACED AND THE DISCHARGED FIRE EXTINGUISHING COMPONENTS REPLACED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
