## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

LOST CONTROL ON TAKEOFF ROLL AND HIT A FENCE. FLIPPED OVER. RIGHT SIDE STEERING LINKAGE HAD SEPERATED. (.4) THE PILOT STATED THAT DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL ON A GRASS STRIP, AT ABOUT 50 KNOTS, HE LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRPLANE. THE AIRPLANE THEN STRUCK A FENCE AND FLIPPED OVER ON ITS BACK. THE PILOT FURTHER STATED THAT HE WAS NOT AWARE OF ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE AIRPLANE. HOWEVER, EXAMINATION OF THE NOSE WHEEL ASSEMBLY REVEALED THAT THE RIGHT HAND STEERING LINKAGE HAD FAILED. (-23) PILOT WAS ON TAKEOFF ROLL ON THE GRASS AIRSTRIP. ABOUT 50 KTS THE AIRPLANE VEERED TO THE LEFT. THE LEFT WING STRUCK A BARBED WIRE FENCE AND FLIPPED OVER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL97LA108](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL97LA108), Jul 20, 1997: Cessna 152 (N152DG), Arcadia, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: failure of the right nose wheel steering linkage. The close proximity of the fence was a related factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
