## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(.4)THE PILOT WAS DEPARTING FROM AN 800-FOOT-LONG BEACH SITE AT DUSK. DURING LIFT-OFF AT LESS THAN FLYING SPEED THE AIRPLANE DRAGGED A WINGTIP AND SUBSEQUENTLY SETTLED INTO THE WATER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC97LA114](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC97LA114), Aug 2, 1997: Cessna 170B (N3491C), Juneau, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's selection of an unsuitable off-airport site for takeoff, and his premature lift-off.

## Other reports on N3491C (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19910829042669I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910829042669I), Aug 29, 1991: Cessna 170B (N3491C), Juneau, AK, Minor damage. Pilot made a hard landing due to wind gusts. Tail wheel bolt sheared and wheel came off. Bolt had prior fracture.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
