## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: UPON LANDING AT SALINAS AIRPORT RWY. 26, LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR WHEEL DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT, GROUND LOOPED AND CAME TO REST BETWEEN RWY. 26 AND TAXIWAY "B". THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER, ENGINE, AND LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR. AFTER AN INSPECTION WAS CONDUCTED OF THE LEFT MAIN WHEEL, LEFT MAIN WHEEL HUB, AND LEFT MAIN AXLE, IT APPEARS THAT THE RETAINED NUT FOR THE WHEEL BACKED ITSELF OFF THE AXLE. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF A COTTER PIN BEING INSTALLED IN THE RETAINER NUT PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THIS INVESTIGATION IS CLOSED. INCIDENT DOES NOT INVOLVE A PILOT DEVIATION REPORT FORM 8020-17.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
