## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) A PARACHUTE JUMPER RECEIVED FATAL INJURIES ON AUGUST 3, 1997 AT APPROXIMATELY 1230 CDT. THE JUMPER MADE A LOW LEVEL TURN DOWNWIND TO AVOID LANDING ON A HARD SURFACED AREA AND STRUCK A RV TRAILER APPROXIMATELY EIGHT FEET ABOVE THE GROUND. HE WAS TRANSPORTED BY HELICOPTER, IN STABLE CONDITION, TO MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS, AND DIED SOON AFTER ARRIVAL. THE JUMPER'S MAIN PARACHUTE WAS FULLY DEPLOYED AND STEERABLE. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
