## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON AUGUST 7, 1997, THE PILOT OF N23993, A BEECHCRAFT C-24R AIRPLANE, REPORTED THE LOSS OF THE AIRCRAFT'S ALTERNATOR. THIS RESULTED IN THE SUBSEQUENT TOTAL LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER, THE INABILITY TO NAVIGATE AND COMMUNICATE IFR IN IMC CONDITIONS, AND AN OFF AIRPORT LANDING. DURING THE LANDING, THE PILOT FAILED TO USE THE EMERGENCY LANDING GEAR EXTENSION SYSTEM TO EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR, RESULTING IN A GEAR UP LANDING. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE OCCUPANTS AND THE AIRCRAFT SUFFERED ONLY MINOR DAMAGE. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
