## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ESTIMATED FUEL BEFORE TAKE OFF AT 2.5 HRS. AT 1.8 HRS ON THE HOBB METER ON FINAL THE ENGINE STOPPED, I KNEW I COULDN'T MAKE THE RUNWAY SO I CLEARED THE TREES TWICE ON RT 1, MADE A 90 DEGREE BANK WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AND TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC THE RIGHT GEAR HIT THE LAND BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO LEVEL OFF. THE LEFT GEAR COLLAPSED WHEN THE PLANE SLID OFF TO THE RIGHT. 10-15 MPH WINDS CLEAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC97LA162](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC97LA162), Aug 10, 1997: Simpson Avid Flyer (N7156X), Westerly, RI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate fuel consumption calculations, which resulted in fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
