## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON AUGUST 12, 1997, MS. HOORI DJASSEMI WAS PILOT IN COMMAND OF CESSNA 172, N1926F, OPERATED BY UNITED FLYING CLUB, INC. ON HER RETURN TRIP TO SAN CARLOS FROM A CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT TO MERCED AND CASTLE, MS. DJASSEMI LANDED N1926F ON RUNWAY 30 AT NEW JERUSALEM (1Q4). WHILE TAXIING BACK ON THE TAXIWAY FOR TAKEOFF ON RUNWAY 30, MS. DJASSEMI ALLOWED THE RIGHT WING TIP OF THE AIRPLANE TO STRIKE A TANKER TRUCK PARKED ADJACENT TO THE TAXIWAY. THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT TURNED N1926F INTO THE TANKER TRUCK. THE SPINNER STRUCK THE TANKER TRUCK AND WAS DENTED. THE RIGHT WING TIP WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AND MOSTLY BROKEN OFF. MS. DJASSEMI STATED THAT SHE ATTEMPTED BRAKING WHILE THE AIRLPLANE WAS TURNING INTO THE TANKER TRUCK BUT THAT THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK. SHE FURTHER STATED THAT SHE PULLED THE THROTTLE TO IDLE AND PULLED THE MIXTURE TO IDLE/CUT OFF BEFORE THE SPINNER STRUCK THE TANKER TRUCK. AFTER INSPECTING THE AIRPLANE, PERFORMING AN ENGINE RUN UP, AND REMOVING A PORTION OF THE SPINNER, MS. DJASSEMI DETERMINED THAT N1926F HAD SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE SPINNER, PROPELLER, NOSEWHEEL PANT, AND RIGHT WING TIP AND RIB. MS. DJASSEMI PERFORMED MAINTENANCE BY REMOVING A PORTION OF THE SPINNER WHEN SHE DID NOT HOLD AN AIRFRAME OR POWERPLANT AIRMEN CERTIFICATE. MS.DJASSEMI FLEW N1926F, AN UNAIRWORTHY AIRPLANE, FROM 1Q4 TO SQL. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
