## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 08/13/97 DURING A FLIGHT FROM NORTHERN WISCONSIN TO SAN CARLOS, CA THE EXPERIMENTAL HOMEBUILT SEAREY AMPHIBIAN PLANE WAS MAKING A FUEL STOP AT RYAN FIELD, ARIZONA. DURING THE LANDING ROLL OUT THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR OVER CENTER LOCK CASTING FAILED CAUSING THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR TO FOLD UPWARDS. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED ON ITS FLOAT FOR AN OTHER 50 FT. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED NOR WAS THERE ANY MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS REPAIRED IN APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THE CASTING FAILURE MIGHT HAVE BEEN A HARD LANDING HE HAD EXPERIENCED TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. HE DID NOT CHECK THAT PARTICULAR CASTING FOR CRACKS.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
