## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON AUGUST 24, 1997 AT 12:46 EDT A CANADAIR CHALLENGER, CL6002B19, REGISTERED TO COMAIR, ON APPROACH TO SYRACUSE INT'L AIRPORT SELECTED 20 DEGREES FLAPS. THE FLAPS WENT TO 15 DEGREES AND STOPPED. A FLAP FAILURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CREW NOTIFIED THE TOWER BUT DID NOT DECLARE AN EMERGENCY AND AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING WAS MADE WITH THE FLAPS AT 15 DEGREES. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL FROM EXECUTIVE AIR SERVICE, WORKING AT THE DIRECTION OF COMAIR MAINTENANCE CONTROL, RESET FLAP SYSTEM C/BS AND CONDUCTED AN OPERATIONAL CHECK OF FLAP SYSTEM PER MM 25-54-00. THE SYSTEM CHECKED NORMAL. A VISUAL INSPECTION OF FLAPS WAS MADE AND NO DISCREPANCIES WERE FOUND. THE LOGBOOK WAS CLEARED AND AIRCRAFT DISPATCHED WITH NO FURTHER DIFFICULTIES. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
