## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: THE PILOT STATED HE HAD DEPARTED RUNWAY 07 AT MIDLAND, TX. AT ABOUT 600' AGL, THE ENGINE RPM DROPPED FROM 2400 TO 2000. HE ATTEMPTED TO MAINTAIN 80 MPH, BUT THE AIRPLANE WOULD NOT MAINTAIN ALTITUDE. HE NOTICED A GOLF DRIVING RANGE JUST OFF HIS LEFT, AND HE MANEUVERED TO A LANDING THERE. A MECHANICAL INSPECTION PERFORMED BY PERSONNEL AT BASIN AVIATION IN MIDLAND, TX REVEALED A VALVE FAILURE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
