## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON JULY 31, 1997, N6119J, A PIPER MODEL PA32R-300 EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE DURING A FLIGHT ORIGINATING IN HARLINGEN, TEXAS. METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME. AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED FOR THE FLIGHT. DURING LANDING THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR USING THE NORMAL AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES, RESULTING IN A GEAR UP LANDING AT THE SAN ANTONIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. MINOR DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED. INVESTIGATION OF THE FAILED EMERGENCY EXTENSION REVEALED THAT THE TRIM MOLDING RETAINING SCREW HAD BACKED OUT AND DID NOT PERMIT A FULL DEPRESSION OF THE EMERGENCY EXTENSION LEVER. AN M & D WAS FILED BY THE OPERATOR. THERE WAS NO FIRE. NO INJURIES OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. THIS OFFICE CONSIDERS THIS INCIDENT CLOSED. THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR FAILED CAUSING COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. DURING THE LANDING CHECKLIST, THE GEAR FAILED TO EXTEND USING THE EMERGENCY EXTENSION SYSTEM.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
