## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

HIGH ON LANDING APPROACH. WENT AROUND. BELEIVED GEAR REMAINED DOWN. LANDED GEAR UP. SLID 3000FT AND CAUGHT FIRE. (-23) AIRCRAFT MISSED APPROACH AND ON GO AROUND RETRACTED LANDING GEAR. THEN UPON LANDING NEGLECTED TO EXTEND LANDING GEAR. THIS RESULTED IN A POST FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL97LA131](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL97LA131), Sep 2, 1997: Learjet 31 (N71JC), Aberdeen, MS, destroyed. Probable cause: The flightcrew's failure to extend the landing gear.

## Other reports on N71JC (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19890314016609I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19890314016609I), Mar 14, 1989: Lear 31 (N71JC), New York, NY. Gear unsafe indication on approach. Landed without incident. High altitude en route froze the gear micro switch.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
