## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: AS STATED BY PILOT: "WE WERE PRACTICING STALL RECOGNITION AND RECOVERY AT 3000AGL, 14-23 NM SOUTH OF HNL. WE HAD STARTED TO MAKE THE RECOVERY FROM A STICK SHAKER WARNING AND AS WE INCREASED POWER FROM FLIGHT IDLE TO MAX POWER, THE RIGHT ENGINE LOST POWER AS EVIDENCED BY YAW TO THE RIGHT AND DECREASING TORQUE. THERE WAS A LOUD POP FROM THE RIGHT. I WAS THE NON-FLYING PILOT (LAURIE WAS FLYING PILOT). I COMPLETED THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN CHECKLIST, AND SET FLAPS TO 4 DEGREES. THEN I TOOK THE CONTROLS BECAUSE LAURIE WAS NOT TRAINED COMPLETELY FOR SINGLE ENGINE LANDING. I HAD HER CALL APPROACH AND DECLARE AN EMERGENCY AND REQUEST LANDING AT HNL. THE APPROACH AND LANDING WERE SUCCESSFUL WITHOUT FURTHER DAMAGE." INVESTIGATED INCIDENT AND FOUND RIGHT ENGINE POWER TURBINE DISINTEGRATED. CAUSE IS UNKNOWN. THIS INCIDENT INVESTIGATION IS CLOSED. (INCIDENT #IWP1397021).

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
