## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON SEPTEMBER 12, 1997, AT 1659 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME, A PIPER PA 34-220T, N9282V, OPERATED BY A PRIVATE PILOT, SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE DURING LANDING. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE TITLE 14 CFR PART 91 FLIGHT HAD BEEN OPERATING ON AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER REPORTED NO INJURIES. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT LEESBURG MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, LEESBURG, VA. AFTER A PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION OF THE INCIDENT, AIRMAN COMPETENCE IS CONSIDERED A FACTOR IN THE CAUSE OF THE INCIDENT. THE PILOT'S FAILURE TO PROPERLY CONTROL THE AIRCRAFT CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO SUSTAIN MINOR DAMAGE TO BOTH PROPELLERS AND NOSE WHEEL LANDING GEAR ASSEMBLY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
