## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ABOUT 10 TO 14 MINUTES LATER, WHILE THE AIRPLANE PASSED THROUGH FLIGHT LEVEL 260, THEY ENCOUNTERED MODERATE CLEAR AIR TURBULENCE FOR ABOUT 15 TO 20 SECONDS. A PASSENGER RETURNING TO HIS SEAT SUSTAINED A TWISTED AND DISLOCATED ANKLE INJURY. (-23) AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED TURBULENCE BETWEEN FL260 AND FL240 OVER JFK. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC97LA187](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC97LA187), Sep 26, 1997: Airbus Industrie A-300 (N14077), Long Island, NY, no damage. Probable cause: An in-flight encounter with clear air turbulence and the passenger's failure to comply with the fasten seatbelt sign.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
