## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS REPORT WAS MADE WITH THE HELP OF SIGNED STATEMENTS AND INTERVIEWS WITH PILOT MR. MICHAEL LAMOUREUX CERT #562069454 AND THE OWNER OF SKYADS, MR. ROBERT SCOTT. ON SEPTEMBER 27, 1997, AT ABOUT 1000 HOURS, PILOT MICHAEL LAMOUREUX FLEW AIRCRAFT N818C STINSON 108-3, S/N 108-3818 FROM LGB AIRPORT. AFTER BANNER TOWING, HE WAS RETURNING TO LGB AIRPORT WHEN THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND QUIT. THE PILOT RELEASED THE BANNER TOW EQUIPMENT, AND LANDED AT ABOUT 1300 HOURS IN AN UNUSED MOVIE THEATER NORTHEAST OF INTERSECTION 91 FWY AND LEMON STREET. THE PILOT DID NOT SUFFER ANY INJURIES. THE OWNER OF SKYADS CAME TO THE SITE. BOTH THE PILOT MR LAMOUREUX AND THE OWNER MR. SCOTT, AGREED THAT ENGINE FAILURE WAS DUE TO FUEL STARVATION. (THE LEFT FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY & RIGHT FUEL TANK HAD SOME FUEL. BOTH STATED THAT THE FUEL GAGE WAS INACCURATE.) THE OWNER GOT FUEL AND REFUELED THE AIRCRAFT N818C. PILOT RAN THE ENGINE AND FOUND THAT IT RAN NORMAL. BOTH DECIDED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS AIRWORTHY. THE PILOT FLEW TO LGB AIRPORT WITHOUT ANY INCIDENT. FULLERTON CONTROL TOWER WAS NOT CONTACTED AT TAKE-OFF. THERE WAS NO LOSS OF PROPERTY AND NO PERSON SUFFERED ANY INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
