## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON OCTOBER 9, 1997 AT 1150 EDT, A BEECHCRAFT 1900-D, OPERATED BY COMMUTAIR DBA U.S. AIR EXPRESS COULD NOT EXTEND THE NOSE GEAR AND HAD AN UNSAFE INDICATION. THE PILOT NOTIFIED BUF TOWER AND ACCOMPLISHED A FLY-BY, WHICH VERIFIED THAT THE MAIN GEAR WAS DOWN AND THE NOSE GEAR WAS STILL UP. THE CREW FLEW TO AN ASSIGNED HOLD POSITION AND MANUALLY LOWERED THE NOSE GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED ON RUNWAY 23 WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE CREW PINNED THE GEAR IN THE DOWN POSITION PER MAINTENANCE CONTROL INSTRUCTIONS AND FERRIED THE AIRCRAFT TO PLB FOR REPAIR. THE AIRCRAFT WAS ENROUTE FROM SYR WITHOUT ANY PASSENGERS. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
