## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON NOVEMBER 14, 1997, AT APPROXIMATELY 1145 HOURS, A PIPER PA-24-260, N9297P PILOTED BY MR. WILLIAM J. SAVORY, A PRIVATE PILOT, EXPERIENCED SOME DIFFICULTIES WHILE PREPARING TO DEPART THE ACY RAMP FOR FLIGHT. THE PILOT STATED THAT AFTER ENGINE START HE REACHED INTO THE BACK OF THE AIRCRAFT FOR SOME CHARTS. AT THAT TIME FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON THE AIRCRAFT MOVED FORWARD AND RAN INTO THE BACK (TAIL SECTION) OF ANOTHER PARKED AIRCRAFT, N421KS. A CE-421-B CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE PARKED AIRCRAFT, BUT ONLY MINOR DAMAGE TO HIS AIRCRAFT. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE PILOT DID NOT HAVE THE PARKING BRAKE SET AND HE FAILED TO MAINTAIN BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE TO AVOID AIRCRAFT MOVEMENT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME AND A FLIGHT PLAN HAD NOT BEEN FILED. THE PILOT, SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT INJURED. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ INCIDENT CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
