## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5) ON OCTOBER 15, 1997 AT ABOUT 17:45 PDT, TIMOTHY SCHERE, COMMERCIAL PILOT #404256895, WAS FLYING SOUTH ALONG POINT LOMA, SAN DIEGO, CA, IN A BOEING B-75-B75N1, N63495 WHEN HE NOTICED A BURNING SMELL WHICH HE DESCRIBED AS ELECTRICAL. SECONDS LATER THE ENGINE COUGHED AND BEGAN TO LOOSE POWER. MR. SCHERE LANDED THE PLANE WHICH CAUGHT THE MAIN LANDING GEAR IN SOME BUSHES AND CAME TO REST ON IT'S NOSE WITH ONLY MINOR DAMAGE. A MALFUNCTION OR DEFECT REPORT, FAA FORM 8010-4 WILL FOLLOW.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
