## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 10/17/97, AT APPROXIMATELY 1:50 PM CDT, THE PILOT IN COMMAND, MS. DELORES Y. MORTON, STATED THAT SHE LOST POWER WHILE FLYING HER EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT, N931RA, FROM SCHERTZ, TEXAS ENROUTE TO KERRVILLE, TEXAS, 1.5 MILES EAST OF THE CITY OF KERRVILLE, TEXAS AT ALTITUDE OF 2500 FEET MSL. THE PILOT STATED THAT SHE THOUGHT SHE HAD TRANSFERRED ENOUGH FUEL FROM THE AUXILIARY FUEL TANK TO THE MAIN FUEL TANK, BUT THE FUEL SITE GAGE HAD MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING HER TO BELIEVE THAT THERE WAS SUFFICIENT FUEL IN THE MAIN TANK. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MODERATE DAMAGE AFTER A FORCED LANDING IN AN OPEN FIELD.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
