## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON OCTOBER 21, 1997, N250WH, A GARLIK HELICOPTER MODEL UH-1H, THREW A MAIN ROTOR BLADE TIP WEIGHT DURING A MAINTENANCE RELATED GROUND RUN-UP. THE WEIGHT STRUCK A NEARBY HANGAR, CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT DAMAGED AND THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. OUR INVESTIGATION DID NOT DETERMINE PROBABLE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. AGGRAVATING CIRCUMSTANCES DURING THE INVESTIGATION WAS LACK OF ACCESSIBILITY TO N2505WH MAINTENANCE RECORDS. OPERATOR IS INVOLVED IN LITIGATION WITH MAINTENANCE PROVIDER. THE LATTER EXERCISING A MECHANICS LIEN ON THE MAINTENANCE RECORDS. N250WH'S RECORDS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AS OF THIS DATE. THIS INCIDENT DID NOT INVOLVE A NMAC OR PILOT DEVIATION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
