## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACFT WAS PRAC TOUCH AND GO LANDING WHEN IT LOST CONTROL AND STRUCK A TREE AND AN ACFT FARMINGDALE, NY. (.4)THE STUDENT PILOT STATED THAT THIS WAS HIS FIRST TOUCH AND GO LANDING ON RUNWAY 19, BUT HE DECIDED TO MAKE A FULL STOP LANDING. DURING THE LANDING FLARE, THE AIRPLANE DRIFTED OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY, AND HE ADDED FULL POWER TO ABORT THE LANDING. THE AIRPLANE THEN EXITED THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT, STRUCK A TREE, AND CONTINUED ON TO AN AIRCRAFT PARKING AREA WHERE IT COLLIDED WITH A PARKED AIRPLANE. THE WINDS REPORTED AT THE AIRPORT WERE FROM 250 DEGREES AT 22 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO 28 KNOTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB IAD98LA010](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/IAD98LA010), Nov 4, 1997: Piper PA-28-140 (N1469X), Farmingdale, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to maintain directional control and his inadequate compensation for the wind condition. A factor was the cross wind condition.

## Other reports on N1469X (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19831008067339I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19831008067339I), Oct 8, 1983: Piper PA28140 (N1469X), Farmingdale, NY, Minor damage. The left wing tip struck a steel support post while trying to park the aircraft under power in a open tee hanger.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
