## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON NOVEMBER 14, 1997, APPROXIMATELY 0305 CST, SUBURBAN AIR FREIGHT, INC., GULFSTREAM COMMANDER 680FL, N5035E, EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE WHILE ENROUTE FROM NORTH PLATTE, NEBRASKA TO ALLIANCE, NEBRASKA. THE PILOT IN COMMAND REPORTED A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE WITH A SUBSEQUENT LOSS OF ENGINE OIL PRESSURE. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT THE ALLIANCE, NEBRASKA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, APPROXIMATELY 0326 CST, WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION DISCLOSED A SEIZURE OF THE TCM S6RN-1208 MAGNETO INSTALLED ON LYCOMING IGSO-540-BIA, S/N L-277-50C, AND ASSOCIATED ACCESSORY DRIVE GEAR FAILURE WITHIN THE ENGINE. PRELIMINARY INSPECTION SUGGESTS THE MAGNETO ASSEMBLY SEIZURE INDUCED THE FAILURE OF THE ACCESSORY DRIVE GEARS. THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY TIME SINCE OVERHAUL IS 48.8 HOURS WITH A MAGNETO TSO OF 75.0 HOURS. THE ENGINE AND MAGNETO ASSEMBLIES WERE SHIPPED TO THE RESPECTIVE OVERHAUL FACILITIES FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE PRINCIPAL MAINTENANCE INSPECTOR IS MONITORING ANY TRENDS. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
