## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON NOVEMBER 14, 1997, ON AN INSTRUMENT APPROACH INTO INT, THE PILOT SELECTED GEAR DOWN AND DID NOT RECEIVE A GEAR DOWN INDICATION. HE ABORTED THE APPROACH, SUBSEQUENTLY LOWERED THE LANDING GEAR MANUALLY, AND PERFORMED ANOTHER INSTRUMENT APPROACH INTO INIT TO A LANDING. DURING THE LANDING, THE RIGHT GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF THE RUNWAY TO THE RIGHT SIDE. THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED A BENT PUSH-PULL ROD THAT CONNECTED THE ELECTRIC GEAR MOTOR TO THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR. THE ROD WAS BENT IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE PILOT WOULD HAVE RECEIVED A GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED INDICATION AFTER LOWERING THE GEAR MANUALLY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
