## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N6989F, LOST PARTIAL POWER AFTER TURNING SOUTHBOUND AFTER T/0 RWY 04 AT HOU. STUDENT PILOT INITIATED A TURN BACK TOWARD HOU, BUT THEN TOTAL POWER LOSS RESULTED, PROPELLERS REMAINED WINDMILLING. STUDENT PILOT PICKED OUT A LANDING AREA (GRASSY FIELD) AND LANDED THE AIRPLANE WITHOUT CAUSING ANY AIRCRAFT DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY. INVESTIGATION REVEALED FUEL IN TANKS. OWNER HAS STARTED AIRCRAFT AND HAD A CERTIFIED MECHANIC CHECK THE ENGINE AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS. A LOGBOOK ENTRY HAS BEEN MADE, CERTIFYING SAFE FOR FLIGHT. OWNER WILL FLY OUT OF FIELD.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
